My Niece.

My niece is celebrating her 7th birthday tomorrow. My family hosted our Raya Open House today and this is the conversation my brother Adam and I had with her.

Me: You’re so quiet today. Usually you talk non-stop.

Her: Sometimes, when there are a lot of people around, I just get lost in the crowd.

Adam: (looking at me dumbfounded) Woaaah…

Me: (whispering to Adam) …lost in the crowd. That is so true…
       (to the niece) Well there ARE a lot of people. Why don’t you just talk to someone?

Her: Because even though there are lots of people, there’s no one to actually talk to. 

Adam and I gave up after that ’cause she’s too smart for us. She has a blog. A blog. It’s private. She posts her poetry. She is the most amazing little person I know.
