Aisha Goes Back To Kindergarten While We All Stay Home For MCO 2.0
I don’t really understand the logic behind closing all schools but allowing private kindergartens to operate. I suppose it’s part of keeping the economy going.
As a working parent, I definitely understand how important daycares and kindergartens are. We’re fortunate enough to have a babysitter who comes to our house during weekdays to care for the kids while Mr Ninja and I work. She’s such an important member of the family and the kids love her as their aunty.
Sulaiman refers to her quite often in his many blog posts as Anti Ayu. Haha.
Anyway. Aisha loved kindergarten when she first joined in January 2020. She had a great three months of play and friendship, sports and swimming lessons, learning her ABCs and 123s.
It all came to a haltering stop when MCO 1.0 was announced in March 2020.
But her kindy has been amazing. They figured out online schooling pretty fast. Signed up for a paid app so parents and kids could use it for free. Teachers could upload daily activities for the kids to do. There were videos to watch, interactive quizzes to play, and lots of printable worksheets, as well as activities like “cutting up fruits and decorating your plate” lol.
After that they had virtual classes every day on Google Meet.
My three kiddos. One in private school, another in government school, and the third in kindy. The kindy provided the best online education.
We entered RMCO and schools were reopened. Aisha was happy to go back.
Then in September 2020, when we went back into CMCO and kindies were closed again, Aisha didn’t want to do virtual learning anymore. She was done. She was done with school for the rest of the year. Poor babe.
And so… with schools closed but private kindergartens open, we decided to send her back. And she’s so happy.
Sleeps early, wakes up early. Showers, wears her little uniform, ties up her hair and adds a little hairclip. Water bottle filled. And off she skips to school with her face mask and shield.
The kids aren’t allowed to share toys or play together. No running, no sports, no recess in the park. But they get to be together. They have dance class. They talk and laugh and line up to wash their hands with soap.
Learn their ABCs and 123s.
A sense of normalcy.
