Baby Eczema
I started having eczema when I was around 3 years old at the folds of my arms. I used steroid creams, oral medication, this and that and more. It never went away but subsided temporarily. Then when I hit puberty it just vanished. During my pregnancy with Ayub it came back with a vengeance. The eczema spread from my arms to my legs and was especially bad at my neck. It itched so badly and I couldn’t take anything for it because it would affect the baby so I suffered through it for 9 months. After I gave birth it disappeared.
Anyway, Ayub and Sulaiman both have very sensitive skin like me and both suffer from early eczema. The doctor says it’s hereditary and there’s nothing I can do about it; incurable but manageable. Ayub has been ok. The eczema surfaces when he sweats too much or if he eats too much fish. It usually subsides on its own, otherwise he gets a prescription cream to use sparingly. It shows up at the folds of his arms like me, sometimes behind his knees and when he was a baby, at his diaper line.
But Sulaiman… He’s had rough patches all over his body since birth. Poor little munchkin. The pediatrician said to just keep it moisturized because he’s too little to take any eczema medication and it’s not serious. I used Johnson & Johnsons at first but it didn’t help. The pharmacist suggested Sebamed but it’s kinda oily and seemed to make his skin worse. Lately his skin has been getting worse. I think it’s because of the hot humid weather, his cold medication and the fact that he’s so active and sweaty all the time. Silly little baby.
I think I’ll switch to Cetaphil next. That stuff is magic in a tube.
