Last night Ayub decided that he is, in fact, a dinosaur. And spent the evening…
Bubble the Bunny
Two weeks ago my dad rescued a bunny that was stuck in the middle of the road. He was tiny and malnourished and trembling in fear. Brought him home, put him in the garden and gave him food and water and lots of cuddles. The bunny was happy and hopping around and nibbling the grass for the rest of the day. We were planning on bringing him to the vet the next day then finding a home for him to be adopted into. The next afternoon we saw the neighbour’s cat chasing him, when we went to the garden he was gone. Searched the whole neighbourhood for him to no avail.
Later in the evening the maid heard a commotion in the house behind ours. When she had a look, the neighbour’s kids were throwing our bunny around. THROWING. Stupid kids. I hate those kids. Poor baby bunny. She told them to bring him back to our house. From inside the house I saw one of the kids throw him into our backyard. My heart dropped and I went out to get him. He was so afraid, the whites of his eyes were showing. He just lay on the ground shaking. I picked him up and held him and spoke to him. Brought him into the house and just cuddled him for ages until he calmed down. Put him in a cardboard box and offered him food and water. He ate and drank and cuddled into a towel. I was so scared he would die. My parents were out, when they came back they showered him with more love. We decided to keep him and get him a hatch and put up mesh around the garden so he would be safe.
The hubby came back from work with a large cage and we moved the bunny there. I asked Ayub what to name him. He ignored me. So I suggested we name the bunny Ayub and started calling “Ayub! Hi Ayub the rabbit!” Ayub the human gave me a death stare and shouted “BUBBLE! Rabbit name Bubble!” And so Bubble was named.
Bubble passed away the next night in his sleep. RIP. I hope his last day on Earth was comfortable and that he went to sleep feeling loved 🙁
