Camping Overnight For The First Time @ Father’s Organic Farm, Batang Kali
When we found out that Ayub had to go on a camping trip with his school, I freaked out. This kid. Camping. Wilderness. Away from all his comforts. He’s a very homey person. And as an autistic child, he suffers from horrible night terrors that are brought on by any changes in his schedule, overstimulation, and sensory overload. A weekend in the jungle will surely throw him off.
So I was really nervous. “He’ll be fine,” said Mr Ninja. “Stop underestimating him.”

All set for a big camping adventure!
Fortunately the little ones, like Ayub, got to have an adult to accompany them. So Mr Ninja joined him on his camping trip. I stayed home partly because Sulaiman had school and Aisha was too little to camp, but mostly because I didn’t want to go camping. Haha.
Ayub was super excited. All packed and ready to go on his first sleepover away from home.
Pitching the tents at the campsite overlooking the farm
Mr Ninja claims to have done ninjutsu when he was a teenager. He also says he used to sleep and train in the jungle. And kick stuff and climb stuff and do the splits. But aside from seeing a black gi hanging in his closet one time when we were dating, there is no evidence that any of this is true. I think he just said that because he knows that I like ninjas and he wanted to be the Mr Ninja to my Ninja Housewife. Anyway, it worked.
But the point is, when it came time to pitch a tent, Mr Ninja didn’t know what to do – according to Ayub. Maybe as a young ninja, Mr Ninja used to sleep in a tree.
Swimming in the waterfall
So because I wasn’t on this trip, I’m just making random commentary based on the bad pictures that Mr Ninja sent me while they were there. Ayub is in the full blue wetsuit.
Building a camp fire
That night they shared stories around the camp fire. Each kid was asked what their favourite moment was at ActonKL, I believe. And according to Mr Ninja, Ayub said his favourite moment was during his birthday when he had his party ever and all his friends came to play <3 That was a huge milestone for him. Happy tears from me.
Spending the night in a tent
Ayub did have a night terror. Screamed in his sleep. Just too many activities during the day, not having the comfort and routine of his home, and general sensory overload. Lots of calming and cuddles from Mr Ninja and he was fine. Ayub never remembers the episode the next day. It’s the adults that are left traumatised haha.
Pictures of bugs because Ayub loves insects
Mr Ninja is terrified of bugs. He is so not a ninja.
Eating at Father’s Organic Farm @ Batang Kali
Mr Ninja says they didn’t do much at Father’s Organic Farm. The kids did their presentations. There was waterfall fun. And the rest of the time they were eating. Cooking and eating. The kids made breakfast for everyone. And the rest of the weekend, the adults were cooking and eating.
Look at Mr Ninja pretending to work. Who is he trying to kid really. Haha.
The kids cooked scrambled eggs for breakfast. Look how many tray of eggs there are. Lol.
Ayub’s presentation was about how to pitch a tent or something. He’s so happy. He loved camping. I guess we might have to glamp it out ourselves one of these days. But in like, a really nice glamping site. With proper toilets and a bathroom and a proper kitchen and no mosquitoes. Ya whatever, we’re sticking to hotels thanks. Love you Ayub!
