Family Review Of Bangi Wonderland Themepark And Resort
Aisha has been asking to go swimming for a while now. So I promised her we would swim over the weekend. Sunday came, we packed up, Aisha was suuuuper excited to go swimming. We reached The Club at Bukit Utama and were promptly told that the swimming pool was for members only.
Aisha cried and cried and cried as we drove away.
So we ended up in Bangi Wonderland Themepark & Resort. Because we didn’t want to risk another members only situation at another pool and because Sunway Lagoon is out of our end of month budget y’all.
Despite being called a themepark, it’s actually just a waterpark. I didn’t see a resort anywhere. But we absolutely loved it.

Bangi Wonderland Themepark & Resort is the most affordable waterpark we’ve been to
First of all, I want to point out how awesome it is that there are no queues at the ticket counter. I love no queues. It makes me happy.
Secondly, I was pleasantly surprised to see how cheap the tickets are. Only RM55 for adult MyKad holders (Mr Ninja and I), RM45 for child MyKid holders (Sulaiman), RM22 for child OKU card holders (Ayub), and free for little ones below 90cm (Aisha).
Total cost of tickets for our family of five: RM177.
This is the only place we’ve been to where Aisha hasn’t had to pay an admission fee. Most parks start charging kids above the age of 2. Definitely coming back before she overshoots that 90cm!
Here’s what to expect at the Bangi Wonderland Themepark & Resort
It’s a lot of fun, especially for younger kids. No dry park, no rollercoasters. It’s totally a waterpark and it’s pretty great.
On the left of the image are really tall water slides and on the right is a giant spa pool.
1. Kids Adventure – the water playground
This is by far the best water playground we’ve been to. I would say it’s even better than Sunway Lagoon. It’s three-storeys high and has around six slides – all of which are really fast and super fun. (You tend to get stuck halfway on the slides at Austin Heights Water Park).
Aside from being huge and having loads of things for little ones to do, the security is amazing. There is lifeguard positioned at every slide and around the playground and they are very strict on safety. Fantastic! It keeps all the kids (and adults) in check and safe.
The boys loved climbing up and sliding down. Aisha was happy to explore around the playground. There are lots of fun things for toddlers to play with.
Water cannons that can be swung around to shoot people
A bunch of cute statues spraying water
Many of slides to whoosh down for toddlers and big kids
Lots and lots of cutesy things for tiny ones to splash around in
Awesome water playground. Best we’ve been to. Legit.
2. Pirates Bay – the wave pool
The wave pool is very small but the waves are really high. It’s fun… but there’s one thing that I think is incredibly dangerous about it.
Despite the kids’ water playground being super safe, over at the wave pool they allow people to bring those giant yellow rented infatable boats in. This is totally no allowed in any other waterpark we’ve been to and I find it really dangerous. There a tiny kids (mine included) who are bobbing along with their little floaties and they could very easily can hit and pulled underwater by these giant yellow inflatable boats.
Look at all the yellow inflatable boats. There were many more but I kept the kids away from them. It’s just so dangerous. Sulaiman got caught between to boats and pushed underwater between them. The adults on the boat couldn’t see him. They should NOT allow these boats in. Right?
3. Meander River – the lazy river
This lazy river was the most shallow yet fastest we have ever been in. SOOOOO shallow. Like, the water came up to my knees. And I’m short. Even Aisha could walk around in it. This was by far Aisha’s favourite place. She made like 4 or 5 rounds of this river and it’s a BIG round.
The jets are really powerful so as long as you have a floaty, you’re good to go.
At one point we went in as a family, then the boys moved too fast and got separated from us. When Mr Ninja, Aisha, and I reached the end, the boys were nowhere to be found. Mr Ninja stayed at the exit and Sulaiman showed up. They had made a second round.
Mr Ninja waited and waited and waited but no Ayub. For a loooooooong time. We told the lifeguards.
Finally we spotted him on the other side of the park and waved at him to come to us. He had been enjoying himself in the lazy river. There was a spot that was a whirlpool. He said he went round and round and round and round and had so much fun. We were like -_-
4. The big slides
There are multiple big slides. Most have a height requirement of 120cm, which Sulaiman now passes. But they also have a weight requirement, which both boys don’t pass yet.
They also don’t allow phones on the slides so we couldn’t get pictures. Make do with what we have 😛
Here’s Ayub going down the slide:
5. Water Canon
Right next to the children’s water playground was the water canon where they literally shot people out of a canon of water. It was fun to watch. People went flyingggggg…
6. The food
Unlike the usual overpriced food you find in water parks and theme parks, the food here was actually quite fairly priced. There aren’t a lot of options.
The main food counter consists of pre-packed food. There’s a choice of laksa, mee kari, bee hoon soup, and chicken rice. Each meal comes with a canned drink. Total price is only RM12. Pretty good right?
I had the mee kari and everyone else had the chicken rice.
The food is edible but otherwise… super bland and tasteless. Which is actually good for kids I suppose. Ayub and Sulaiman finished their food and Aisha ate lots.
There’s another makan counter that sells hot snacks like sausages, corn in a cup, fish balls, samosas etc. We ate a lot from there too.
It was a super fun day. But here are some final thoughts.
The staff is amazing
There was heavy rain in the middle of the day so they shut down everything and had people evacuate all the pools. But after about half an hour the rain eased off. The lifeguards went back in the water and everyone waited until they gave the green light for us to come back in. I was very impressed at their level of security and safety.
Throughout the day you’ll see lifeguards everywhere at their designated posts. I found them very professional and good at their jobs.
The gift shop is very sad but it’s ok
I didn’t pack towels because initially we were supposed to go to The Club swimming pool remember? So I had to buy towels here. They were small and thin and cost RM28 each lol. Aisha got herself a pair of sunglasses.
The lockers and changing rooms aren’t the best
And the layout is such that there are A LOT of stairs to go up and down. Not very stroller/wheelchair/OKU/elderly-friendly. Maybe there was a lift somewhere. But there were no clear signs to show us. So we lugged the stroller up and down a lot of stairs.
Here’s happy Aishi in front of the lockers.
People didn’t wear proper swimsuits
The vast majority of people didn’t wear proper swimsuits which is such a pet peeve of mine. Just freaking buy a swim suit and use it whenever you go swimming. It’s like a one-time investment. I’ve had mine for 10 years. It’s awesome. I can’t stand seeing people in their regular clothes in swimming pools. You’re causing cloggin and bringing in all kinds of bacteria and nastiness. It’s unsafe and uncool.
I wish Bangi Wonderland enforced their ‘swimsuits only’ regulation. They don’t at all.
Also, there were like quite a lot of rempits there. I dunno. They were rowdy assholes that were going around disturbing women. I didn’t like that.
It is very affordable and worth it
There are loads of giant slides and a ‘Pirate Spa’ which is a big pool that I didn’t even notice until we were leaving. Definitely going back soon.
Even the photo that we had taken was only like RM15 or something. Super cheap compared to other parks. Love it.
