Family Review Of Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark
Ayub superstar was invited to be in a SAYS video for Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark. So we piled the whole family in the car and drove a bazillion hours to the end of Johor just for him. And for an all-expenses paid holiday. Muahahaha.
Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark is a super long name
Overall I really LOVE the waterpark. Mostly because it was pretty much empty the whole two days that we were there. No real queues, hardly any humans, we had the park to ourselves.
It won’t be like that for long though, because the waterpark is really awesome and I foresee LOTS of people heading there this year. But anyway.
The park is big but because there weren’t many people, Ayub and Mr Ninja were able to go on every slide and ride multiple times. But maybe that’s because they were shooting the SAYS video and were allowed to skip the queue.
Hmm… I have no idea.
I was hanging out with Sulaiman and Aisha the whole time in the kiddie area haha. Check out the best ‘Aisha is a gangster’ shot:
A map of the park. Is big.
Here are all the family-friendly attractions in Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark:
1. Kids Ahoy
“Kids Ahoy has three age-appropriate play areas filled with water play equipment and a combined total of 13 different water slides designed for our younger guests. These zones are splashing favourites for toddlers, young children, tweens and early teens!”
– totally copy pasted from the official Desaru Coast website coz I ain’t got time to write fancy
Kids Ahoy is the nicest toddler/little kid water play area I’ve ever seen. I would say it’s even better than Sunway Lagoon.
The toddler area is big, simple, few splashes here and there, small slides… perfect for little ones who get scared by too much water
Aisha and I were here like 99% of the time. I loved it. I just sat in shallow water and got massaged by the water jets while Aisha ran around like a happy monkey.
There’s a big water playground for bigger kids (and adults)
Sulaiman spent most of his time at this play area. It’s pretty dope. Loads of big slides for big kids.
Not really suitable for Aisha. She tried the smallest slide and ended up submerged in the water at the bottom, poor tiny fella.
Then the final play area has a bunch of mini versions of adult slides. It’s super cute.
This is Ayub on a donut going through the mini Vuvuzela-type slide:
2. Tidal Wave Beach
The pictures look so depressing because there was a storm coming. But it was really nice being there because it wasn’t scorching hot. Cool and breezy. Ha. Malaysian weather.
“Tidal Wave Beach is one of the biggest wave pools in the world holding more than four million gallons of water over nearly three acres. Guests can relax in luxury and enjoy the wave pool views from the Beachside Cabanas, or lounge along the 170-meter-long sandy shoreline of Tidal Wave Beach.”
– Again, totally copied from the website.
I love that they had LOADS of life jackets available (you have to wear theirs, you cannot wear your own and EVERYONE has to wear one).
But overall, the wave pool freaked me out. Probably because I was 9 months pregnant and looking after two kids who can’t swim yet. The pool is very deep.
Mr Ninja later went with Ayub and he said the waves were super high and he freaked out when Ayub was swept past him. So yeah.
3. This ride
I have no idea what this slide ride thing is called but it looks terrifying and I refuse to go on it but Mr Ninja and Ayub probably went on that thing a dozen times that weekend.
4. Penawar River
This is their lazy river. I like it. Relaxing and fun. Everything in working order so you can literally just lay on a giant floaty and go through the whole river. (The water jets in Sunway Lagoon like don’t work anymore?)
Mr Ninja is forever bringing his kooky little camera everywhere with him but despite going on multiple vacations and enjoying multiple waterparks, theme parks, and other attractions, I have yet to see a single video or photo taken with that kooky little camera. Scam human.
“At 350 meters, the Penawar River is a long, looping lazy river that floats amid lush greenery of riverbank and riverside fishing village scenes. Set among the Penawar River are four popular giant water slides – Wild Whirl, Super Twister, Riptide and The Tempest.”
– Ya, what they said.
Everything is chill and then there’s this one waterfall bit. Totally flipped Ayub off his floaty haha.
5. Surf Wall
This was Ayub and Sulaiman’s most favouritestest thing. Ayub was really really good at this. He could “surf” for ages. Other kids got on the board and flew off the moment the lifeguard let go lol.
“A safe and high-energy surf simulator where surfing beginners or enthusiasts can catch and ride a radical artificial wave. The Surf Wall can accommodate up to five boogie boarders or two stand-up surfers at one time.”
– k.
Aisha zonked out waiting for the boys to finish.
6. The food is surprising delicious
We ate at two places and enjoyed the food at both. This is Kelong Eatery, overlooking the whole park. Very nice. Super cooling and breezy. We were literally the only people there and the place was enormous.
The food was yummy and the portions were big. I have no complaints. But also we didn’t have to pay for anything so that probably adds to it being so good lol.
I don’t know if you can see the menu clearly here but this is the menu heh.
So much ice cream was consumed in those two days.
Sulaiman had spaghetti bolognese.
Mr Ninja had salted egg soft shell crab nasi lemak.
Aisha had chicken rice.
I had a chicken leg with mushroom sauce.
100% the best waterpark/theme park food I have ever had.
We had burgers and fries at another spot but I’m too lazy to upload the pics.
7. Swinging Ship
Ayub is on there by himself.
“The classic Swinging Ship theme park ride has three towering waterfalls cascading over a massive 13-metre-high rock cliffs. The Swinging Ship is everyone’s favourite ride — mild enough for youngsters and great fun for all ages, the replica pirate ship arches up to 180 degrees in both directions, filling the air with laughter.”
8. All the other scary rides and slides
I didn’t go on any of these and didn’t take any pictures. So watch Ayub’s video about it instead 🙂
OK, that’s about it I guess
