Gegaria Fest Angsana Mall Johor Bahru So Hot And Colourful And Hot

The Ninjas had to go to Johor Bahru to cover Gegaria Fest and we were excited about it. Mostly because we love Johor Bahru and the fest was held at Angsana Mall, which is basically our neighbourhood mall. Like, we go there all the time to eat and lepak.

Anyway, Gegaria Fest was nice. I took about 400 pictures. I shortlisted around 75 for you. Have fun scrolling. Thanks. Click on some ads on your way down. Cool.

For all of Mr Ninja’s I’m a designer/artist/creative human yadda yadda, he’s not very good at taking pictures. Insert eye roll. He’s also using an iPhone 6s while I’m on a low end Samsung that is over 3 years old mmmkay. My pictures are way cuter.

There’s a Lifestyle Platform where they host talks from industry experts on beauty and cooking and stuff

I didn’t bother listening to any talks but took a bunch of pictures of Aisha playing with the ribbons around the stage instead:

Lots of games and activities for kids (and adults)

The kids loved the following: giant bubbles, giant jenga, baling selipar, giant congkak. There was old school skipping with rubber bands weaved together and sepak takraw and yeah. All those games that old people used to play when they were kids.

They gave out free teddy bear-shaped cookies to the kids and invited them to decorate them at the cookie-decorating station. Aisha so proud of her cookie.

We met Ejen Ali which was nice.

You can get RM10 for free which is cool I guess

Admission and all the stalls and activities are free. But you gotta pay for the food from the food trucks. If you download the Boost app, you get RM10 for free in your account. So you can use that to buy food. I didn’t bother because my phone was at SUPER FULL CAPACITY after I installed Instagram for the day. Mr Ninja tried to install Boost but it wasn’t available on the Apple App Store because his is set to the US or something.

Yeah. Missed out on free money. Oh well.

The different containers to visit

eSports and MyGameOn

The eSports container was the most popular one. Ayub and Sulaiman loved it. They were too scared to try to VR, which honestly looked terrifying. But they lined up to play Dragonball Z several times. And everything is free of course.

Throwback Tunnel

This was honestly the saddest collection of Malaysian entertainment through the decades. I don’t even know what the point of this was. The only reason why so many people stayed in there for so long was because there was AC and it was crazy hot that day.

There was also a very lonely dentist who looked bored and I was like awwww poor dude and Mr Ninja was like “YA LAH! People come here to have fun not be tortured!” Lol. Mr Ninja has a phobia of dentists. To add to his phobia of needles, butterflies, insects in general, fish, the ocean, outer space, deep sea creatures, and aliens.

Durian cendol and other food and drinks

The only thing I liked was the durian cendol because it came with four big pieces of durian and lots of cendol. Legit. RM18. But it was worth it. Esther was raving about the ayam kunyit so I bought two packs and it was mediocre. Don’t trust Esther’s reviews. Mr Ninja tried some carbonara abomination from Meatball Kingdom that proves Malays are not to be trusted with Italian food.

Overall, unimpressed. Mr Ninja went to buy Mee Rebus Haji Wahid from Angsana for lunch and we ate in the mall for dinner.

Other stuff from Gegaria that I’m just too lazy to write about properly

Got to hang out a bit with Hafiz and Ivan from Fly FM. The last time they saw Sulaiman, he was 6 months old. And now… he’s 6 years old. Homai. Both Aisha and Sulaiman were not impressed.
