Everything You Need To Know About Staying At LEGOLAND Hotel Resort During CMCO

We enjoyed a one-night stay at LEGOLAND Hotel Resort in Johor Bahru during CMCO.

LEGOLAND Hotel Resort Malaysia Review
Can you imagine if they just built the whole hotel out of LEGO? I think that’s the future.

Our room was a Pirate Themed Room for around RM500++. But once we checked-in, they upgraded us to a Premium Pirate Themed Room, which I assume would have cost more.

I believe the only difference is that a premium room faces the theme park and waterpark so you get a nicer view.

Quick things you should know about safety:

  • Body temperature screenings are set up before you enter the hotel
  • Contactless payments are preferred
  • There are big red markers on the floor to keep families a safe distance from each other
  • Communal LEGO building areas and play areas have been removed so kids don’t touch touch share germs, you know how they are huhu
  • Dining areas and seating areas are spaced out
  • For breakfast, you have to book your slot so that guests are spaced out
  • No more self-service buffets, instead the staff will scoop for you. Like in a canteen.
  • Only one family is allowed in the hotel swimming pool at a time, for a maximum of 25 minutes. Then the next family is allowed in. But if there are no other people, you are free to swim for as long as you want.
  • Don’t bring your own floaties, they are not allowed in the pool (hotel and waterpark). LEGOLAND provides life vests for all sizes, babies to adults.
  • Shop capacity has been reduced, depending on the size. In the hotel it was 5 shoppers allowed at a time.
  • The park capacity has been reduced to avoid big crowds

Other things you should know because I want to tell you:

  • Check-in is at 4pm, check-out is at 11am. (You can request an earlier check-in and later check-out but that’s subject to availability. I think they do this because they need extra time to disinfect and sanitise rooms)
  • Hotel parking is RM50 per day lol. But if you’ve booked a room, you can validate parking and enjoy it for free. There’s outdoor parking if you have guests that wanna visit or whatever.
  • The elevators are amazing. There’s a tiny disco ball with flashing lights and they play “Everything is Awesome” on loop. I imagine the staff must hate it hahahaha.
  • That’s all I can think of
The raging party in the elevator.

OH! I gotta say, of all the hotels I’ve ever visited, LEGOLAND Hotel Resort has BY FAR the best staff. They are so so so so amazing.

Ayub is autistic, struggles with language, cannot speak any BM. During breakfast we all have to queue then when we reach the counter, let the server know what we want from the buffet so they can get it for us.

The server was just so patient and kind and helpful. He realised quickly that Ayub didn’t speak BM so switched to English. Listened patiently, spoke slowly, and made sure Ayub got everything he wanted. Ayub is a picky eater. But he got his food just the way he wanted it. “Rice and fried chicken and plain porridge with fried onion.” <3

And just in general, from the front desk lady (SO AMAZING THANK YOU FOR LAYANING US) to the cleaning staff. Everyone is so kind. I love. LEGO is the best.

Checking-in to LEGOLAND Hotel Resort

Ok, first of all. You exit the parking lot to see these gigantic LEGO people hanging out at the door. There’s a bunch of them greeting you. You’re gonna be excited. Plus, you’re right next to the Waterpark entrance. Extra excited.

Then, you enter the building and get into the elevator, which is blasting “Everything is Awesoooooooome” with disco lights. You’re gonna dance and sing. Confirm.

After that, you reach the lobby. And it is THE COOLEST LOBBY IN THE WORLD.

Omg, I wish we had come to stay before stupid coronavirus so that we could have the full experience. But never mind. No LEGO blocks or play areas but the kids were still in awe and super happy.

This is the lobby. There’s a giant castle. In the lobby. With dragons and stuff.

And there’s this pirate ship too. The other side has the steering wheel. You can vroom vroom ahoy mateys arrrr to your hearrrrrt’s desires.

We reached around 12.30pm and rooms aren’t available until 4pm because of the sanitising and cleaning they do. But lovely front desk lady let us check in and said they would call if the room was ready before 4pm.

There’s a luggage room where you can store your bags. A lot of guests check-out, store luggage, go to the theme park. And like us, can store luggage until your room is ready.

Please appreciate the wall behind the reception desk. It’s a ton of LEGO figurines. And the dude on the bike has magnifying glass on his wheels, and he moves back and forth, so you can see the figurines enlarged in his wheels.

It’s amazing.

Mall of Medini is just a 5-minute walk from the hotel

We went there for lunch while waiting for our room to be ready. Mr Ninja tapau-ed KFC and Burger King for dinner there later that night too. Very convenient, albeit kinda empty.

If you’ve never been to Mall of Medini, it’s basically an open mall that’s completely covered. One stretch. Some restaurants like Chicken Rice Shop and Absolute Thai, plus a lil market in the centre with pop-up stalls.

There are also playgrounds for kids and useful stuff like convenience stores, Ben’s Grocer, and Starbucks. Haha.

We went back to LEGOLAND Hotel around 3pm and they upgraded us to a Premium Themed Room yay! Come see. The whole floor is piratey.

The LEGO Treasure Hunt in the room

This was Sulaiman’s FAVOURITE thing about our entire stay. The LEGO Treasure Hunt.

1. There’s this wooden “treasure chest” in the corner of the room

2. Hidden elsewhere is the Clue Sheet

The most child-friendly hotel ever

The bathroom even has a child-size sink with colourful plastic cups to keep their toothbrushes in.

Aside from the treasure hunt, they also provide a giant box of DUPLO. There are even kid-sized bathrobes, which are just so freakin’ cute. They just need to add a baby size haha.

Other activities to enjoy in LEGOLAND Hotel

LEGOLAND Hotel Resort Malaysia Review

We got to enjoy Awesome Appearances, Meet & Greets, Balloon Making, and watched the Candyland Show. So fun!

This is Ayub’s balloon gun. He later regretted asking for a gun and not a sword. So he negotiated with the baby to trade his gun for baby’s sword.

The Candyland Show was nice. The kids enjoyed it and thought it was hilarious. I’m not really sure what was going on. Honestly felt like really bad improv. Kinda cringe. But whatever. Kids laughed and danced and sang and laughed some more.

The show was at the lobby. They need a better sound system.

There’s also a game room and two LEGO stores to buy toys and merchandise and all kinds of cool things

You have to book your slot in advance if you wanna play in the gaming room. There are two consoles. One had Minecraft on it and the other had some LEGO game.

And for the shopes, only 5 people are allowed in at a time. There are special LEGOLAND-only LEGO sets. It’s cool.

The LEGOLAND Hotel swimming pool

LEGOLAND Hotel Resort Malaysia Review

There are two swimming pools, an big adult one and a smaller kids one. Ayub could stand up in the big pool so I guess it’s only around 120cm deep? I didn’t check sorry.

The baby pool like comes up my ankles haha. The little was able to walk around happily.

I’m too lazy to write. Just see this post:

Ordering room service

After swimming we were cold and hungry. Thought of ordering room service. Called the number but nobody answered. Must have been busy or on a toilet break of something. So Mr Ninja walked to Mall of Medini to buy KFC and Burger King instead. Saved a lot of money.

See the menu. See the prices. Ho ho ho.

Oh, I just realised you can’t really see the prices. Salads are around RM25, fish & chips RM35, burger RM38, pasta RM38-RM49, fried rice RM40, kids’ food around RM27.

Expensive.

Breakfast

I’ve been writing forever. Just look at photos. They’re self-explanatory.

The food was ok. They had really yummy croissants.

Drinks were pre-poured so you can grab and go. Masks are mandatory at all times unless you’re eating. Tables very spaced apart. Gotta book your time slot to have breakfast. We chose 8am. It was good.

I think that’s all. Goodbye LEGOLAND, see you again.
