Restricted Movement Order: 7 Things I’m Grateful For
Since the PM announced the Restricted Movement Order, I’ve started working at home.
Definitely feeling very very very blessed for so many reasons.
Here’s my gratitude for the week:
1. I have the best teammates ever
Hardworking, trustworthy, super fast, efficient, stupid, funny, smart farts. Love them so much. I don’t have to worry about anything. Pity people with shitty colleagues.
Gowri, Jeremy, Nadiah (happy birthday cutie), Danial, Aly, Sadho, Tammy, May Vin, Arisha, Wan Xiang, Farouq, Murni, Athirah, Ashiqin, Diandra, Amin, Suresh, Ihsan, Jay Zee, Agnes, Sarah, and of course Jude.
2. I work with an awesome company and my job can be done from home
Everything is online. The team is super tight and close-knit and everyone communicates and is open and it’s the best.
But I can imagine for others who don’t work in the media, or have jobs that can’t be done from home, or work for shitty employers, this RMO totally sucks.
I cannot imagine having my pay deducted for the month. I would literally not be able to pay for groceries or bills or rent.
3. We’re financially okay
Not in the best shape right now. Mr Ninja got retrenched in early February. It’s been tough. But we’re okay.
So many Malaysians (and others around the world), who are taking forced unpaid leave. Sucks. Super sucks.
4. My family is together under one roof
I’ve got Mr Ninja and our four chicken nuggets safe and sound at home.
I can’t imagine what it would be like if I was renting out a room in the city with housemates who are strangers, and not being able to be home with family. Or if my kids were older and living elsewhere alone. Not being able to come home to me.
Sucky sucky sucks.
5. We live in a nice house in a nice neighbourhood
I used to live in a not-nice house in a not-nice neighbourhood. Now got more than enough space for everyone to move around comfortably. Even though Sulaiman and Aisha are pretty much stuck to me in one room haha.
Ayub is chilling in his bedroom. Ibrahim is running around in the living playing with toys. Mr Ninja is at the dining area playing video games.
If we were still in my previous home. 🙁
6. I have a helper and she’s the best
She comes every weekday to look after the kids while I’m at work. Even though I’m working from home, she still comes every day. I can work while the baby is being taken care of. Plus, she does some housework and cooking too. She’s the best. We love her.
For the parents who send their kids to daycare or babysitters. So hard. It used to be me too. When daycare is closed, that’s it. Stress.
7. Still healthy
Yeah. Everything sucks. But it could be worse. I am grateful. That’s all.
