Ayub and his classmates were invited to participate in the Malaysian Homeschooling Network's annual Sports…
Sports Day 2018 With The Malaysian Homeschooling Network
Ayub joined the Malaysian Homeschooling Network’s annual Sports Day last year and had an amazing time. So this year I signed up all three of my monkeys, along with three of my nephews.
Woke up bright and early to be at Taman Rimba Kiara by 7.45am for registration. Love these kiddies.
From the moment we arrived they ran off to chase each other around the field. “Mama I want run?” Aisha would ask. Then pitpatpitpatpitpat off she would go.
Early morning warm-up session
Flag-waving, Negaraku-singing, stretches, warm-ups, and a jog around the pitch.
The 2-4 year old category: Aisha
This was the cutest race ever. Teeny tiny kiddies in a team relay. Running. Hopping. Balancing. Mayhem.
Aisha was absolutely not into it at all. I just carried her like this to the finish line.
Her team came in third. She was fine until they gave her a medal. Then she screamed “I DOWAAAAANNN!!!” and burst into tears. She’s funny. My brother says she looks like a hamburger in this picture. I agree.
Don’t worry, she was much happier the rest of the day. She just didn’t care to compete. The rest of the time she was running around and giggling and laughing and eating ice cream and enjoying herself.
The 5-7 year old category: Sulaiman & Shuibb
Sulaiman is very uncoordinated and not athletic. He’s my little fatty bom bom. But he’s all heart and has great spirit. He tried SO HARD and never gave up and I’m super duper proud of him. Always positive and happy and excited to take part, despite being last in everything. Awwww… he’s the best.
Sulaiman and Shuibb were in the same team for the team event. They got bronze. They had to hop then sprint in a relay. Sulaiman cannot hop. But he put 100% effort into it and it was AMAZING.
The individual event was a 1km race. Homai. Both little ones tried their very best. Both were ready to collapse by the end. Both made it past the finish line with huge grins on their faces.
GO little fatty bom bom!
The 8+ year old category: Ayub, Idriss & Yusuff
The three boys were in the same team and got the silver. They had to roll a hoop and sprint. The hoops went everywhere. It was funny.
Everything was great until the 1km individual race. I wrote about it on the Ninja Housewife FB page. You read it now because I’m lazy to write out what happened again:
Anyway, Ayub spent the rest of the sports day on a bench by himself, facing away from the field. His grandad, uncle, and grandma all took turns trying to speak to him and coax him to come back and play. But he wasn’t having any of it. So we let him be.
Eventually he rejoined the group. But he missed all the fun stuff, which was a shame.
Parent-child race
Mr Ninja tried to join the parent-child race with Aisha because she’s obviously the lightest child. But strong, independent lady that she is, she wanted to run on her own.
So my brother joined with Shuibb instead.
Tug-of-war: all ages
This was Sulaiman and his cousins’ favourite part of the day. Kids were split into 4 teams. The boys were all on one team. They ended up taking home the gold. Woot woot!
Just before the final match, my bro gives his nephews some coaching advice. They were not interested in what he had to say.
I don’t think I have ever seen Sulaiman so happy. He was positively glowing. And Mr Ninja was super chuffed. Not because Sulaiman was on the winning team, but because he really put his all into it. So cute lah. Love this little boy.
Tug-of-War: Adults
So Mr Ninja and my bro ended up on opposing teams and Mr Ninja’s team totally got slaughtered. Like his teammates were flying off the rope. And 4 days later, Mr Ninja is still sore all over. He sucks. Haha. I love him.
Football: all ages
My nephews love football. Sulaiman was too tired by then. So he cheered by the sidelines.
Some miscellaneous fun stuff
Oh, I thought I had more pictures of fun stuff. But it looks like it’s just Sulaiman playing with a bubble.
More cute pictures
The event is organised and run by the parents. So I volunteered Mr Ninja to do everything. And he was happy to run around and do whatever he was told.
The final medal tally
Aisha loves her bronze medal. She calls it her “diamond.” She wears it all over the house now.
