Sulaiman’s Hobby Is Math Journaling. What Is That? Come And See

Sulaiman really REALLY loves math. Math math math. All day long. Ayub used to come home with math homework (back when he still went to a learning centre) and Sulaiman would lament over the fact he had none.

Last year he calculated how many seconds there are in a year

He then went on to calculate how many seconds old he was… and how many seconds old everyone else in the family was too.

He is constantly harking on about how easy his math class is in Sekolah Kebangsaan. Right now, his class is learning how to count to 20. So yeah, he’s about 3 or 4 years ahead of that because he’s an overachieving math nerd.

So I bought him 2nd grade math books. He does them for fun.

He created a math game called ‘Rainbowsecathlon’ that is played entirely with his imagination and a calculator

Sulaiman has been journaling since he was around 2 years old. His many notebooks used to be filling with numbers, names of planets, obscure names of colours, and things like that.

Now he only fills them with math

Pages and pages, notebooks upon notebooks, filled with number facts. He has another notebook that’s full of Roman Numerals. And another of square roots.

What else.

I can’t recall. But numbers. Yeah. Weird and wonderful.

Who is this child. Why is he. What. How.

I don’t know but I like it.
