This is a story about the time I dragged Mr Ninja and our three bambinos…
The Statues Of Parkview Square In Singapore Are Extra Haunting At Night
Ever since Mr Ninja and I started binge-watching Doctor Who, statues have pretty much haunted my every waking moment. At night, when I go to the toilet, I’m scared to look behind me or above me because I am sure there’s going to be a stupid-ass weeping angel over me, ready to suck up my soul.
Well… The statues (or rather the gorgeous works of art) came to life tonight at Parkview Square. You have to see it to feel it. So insanely haunting at night. Love it.
The statues of Parkview Square
In the center of the plaza is a statue of a golden crane with its head lifted, pointing towards the direction of Mainland China. The statue and its accompanying poem feature as an Easter egg in the Chinese version of StarCraft 2. The statue is believed to bring wealth to the building.
Parkview Square is supposedly one of the most expensive office buildings in Singapore
It’s next to Bugis MRT Station, Bugis Junction, and The Gateway, and straddles the Rochor Road and Ophir Road corridor. I honestly just got lucky and stumbled upon it.
The gothic building is home to several embassies, including the Uniter Arab Emirates, Austria, and Mongolia
The Parkview Museum takes up the whole of the third floor and is where international contemporary art exhibitions housed. I would LOVE to go there next time. When I ended up in Parkview Square, it was close to midnight so obviously the building was closed. Luckily the courtyard where all the statues are is open and free to the public to wander around and scare themselves shitless.
Parkview Square is known as Gotham Square because it looks like Gotham City
Legit. The exterior has a cool art deco look with dark granite, bronze, angular light fixtures, and more. At night, it looks very intimidating. And very Batman.
That’s about it. Sorry I don’t know anything about the individual statues. I’m not a good tourist. You should check it out. It’s free. And it’s serene and haunting and cool.
