Just because I didn't go to medical school, it doesn't mean I'm stupid. And just…
Doctors are stupid (part 2)
So I previously ranted about stupid doctors in the hospital interrogating me right after I’d given birth. And now, there’s a new story to rant. At my 6 week post-natal check-up with the ob-gyn, I told her I was still bleeding. It would flow a little, then stop, then spot, then flow etc etc. Ever since I gave birth. The same thing happened after I gave birth to Ayub. Hormonal imbalance. So the doc prescribed Mercilon to me. Sold it to me from the clinic. The combined birth control pill. It’s safe for breastfeeding moms she said. Will not affect breast milk or breast feeding or the baby in any way she said.
It’s been 10 days. My milk supply dropped dramatically. From pumping 10 ounces every 6 hours, it became 4 ounces. Not just that, Sulaiman hasn’t pooped in days. I did some research online, asked other moms for advice, and it turns out that the combined pill is NOT RECOMMENDED for breastfeeding women. At. All. Everyone, including a pharmacist, told me that only the mini pill should be consumed, not the combined pill.
I’m really upset that the doc gave it to me. Really upset.
Now I have to rethink my method of contraception. And I don’t know if my hormonal imbalance will sort itself out or if I will continue spotting.
