Eat The Chee Cheong Fun And Rojak At Penang Flavours Express In The Starling Food Court
I like food courts because there’s something for everyone and it tends to be more affordable. NOT IN STARLING MALL THO.
But it’s ok. Penang Flavours Express just opened and it’s pricey for a food court but the food is good so I don’t mind. If you’ve been to the Penang Flavours outlet in 1 Utama, this one is pretty much the same.
The Food
I always order the same thing because I’m a simple and boring person. Chee cheong fun and rojak.
The chee cheong fun comes with that thick prawn paste sauce thingy that some people love and other people hate and I am one of those people who loves it. So thick and flavourful and delicious.
Jeremy doesn’t like it because he used to be in the harmonica club at school.
It’s really hard to find good rojak. Most of the time it’s just cucumber and pineapple, which EVERYONE AGREES are the worst parts of any rojak.
But this one is full of ingredients. Turnip, mango, cucumber, pineapple, tofu, and topped with peanuts. Everything is nice a crunchy, just the way I like it. I wish they had the crispy crispy stuff though.
Anyway, it’s good. I approve.
Jeremy doesn’t like rojak because he said it tastes too prawny but that didn’t stop him from poking my rojak and eating it.
Oh, last week I ate here with Mr Ninja and this is what he ordered. Butter chicken rice set. The butter chicken tasted weird. It tasted like… butter. But I mean I know it’s butter chicken, but it was like they only put butter in that sauce and nothing else?
It was lacking… everything haha. Still ok but I don’t think he’ll ever order it ever again ever. I like butter.
I don’t know how Jeremy feels about this.
The Menu
The menu is smaller compared to the 1 Utama outlet. But it still has my favourite stuff on it so I don’t care. BUT LOOK AT THE PRICES. It’s a lot right? Or am I really poor? Whatever, I’ll still eat here again.
Food: 4/5
The Ambiance
Uh, it’s a food court. A really nice fancy food court.
I didn’t take a picture of us eating. So have a picture of Gowri deciding what to eat. In the end she ordered braised tofu thinking it was tempura but it was actually braised tofu and it wasn’t tempura and on the receipt it said braised tofu and not tempura.
Also, First Dates and Fishcakes.
Ambiance: 3/5
The Service
Super fast, very friendly, efficient, good, nice, I like. Thank you, next.
Service: 5/5
Final thoughts
Love it. Quick lunch. Nice.
