How To Make Homemade Play-doh With Household Ingredients
We made Play-doh! It’s actually really easy but of course we had some hiccups because I mildly suck at everything.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of flour
- 1 cup of water
- 2 teaspoons of cream of tartar
- 1/3 cup of salt
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- Food colouring
Here’s how to make Play-doh:
- Dump everything (except the food colouring) in a pot
- Heat on a low flame and mix mix mix mix mix (use a wooden spatula and not a whisk like me because the dough mixes really fast and suddenly everything is a giant ball trapped inside your whisk and you can’t mix anything and you are a failure)
- Once everything comes together, separate into small containers
- Add a drop of food colouring into each (or be like Ayub and knock a whole bottle of blue food colouring all over the stove so everything gets stained blue and it’s been two days and my kain buruk is still wiping blue)
- Knead the dough so the colours get mixed
- Cool and PLAY!
I didn’t take any pictures of us making it because I didn’t think of it and everything was a mess anyway. But see the after pics instead!
We made four colours!

Aisha’s Play-doh art
After all their hard work, the boys refused to even touch the play-doh
So Aisha got to have it all to herself. That’s nice right? There are now sticky blue handprints on the walls.
Follow my on Instagram because I’m much more active there. Kthxbye!
