Sticky Korean Fried Chicken Wings At Nene Chicken in Starling Mall Damansara Utama

Nene Chicken in Starling Mall @ Damansara Utama serves up Korean fast food chicken. It’s pretty good, but quite expensive compared to other fast food restaurants.

There are four flavours: original, swicy, bulgogi, and freakin’ hot. I ordered swicy (sweet and spicy) and Mr Ninja took freakin’ hot.

The Food

The swicy chicken wings were all sweet and no spicy. The batter is really thick, which is good if you’re into that. But a little too thick for my liking. The chicken gets lost in there. The freakin’ spicy chicken was freakin’ spicy. Mr Ninja regrets. He always does this.

The other day we ordered Domino’s  and he wanted some Ssamyang pizza and it was so spicy he didn’t even eat it. Silly man.

Very glazed chicken. Sticky and sweet. Nyam nyam nyam.

It comes with a side of pickled daikon (I think) and I LOVE IT. This pickle is my favourite thing. I wish I could just buy a bucket of it and eat it while watching a movie like popcorn.

Price range is around RM19-35 (depending on how much chicken you can eat!)

It was alright. I’ve only eaten here twice. I don’t crave it and nobody in the office ever asks to go here. I think because it’s expensive for fast food that doesn’t really fill you up. Meh.

The Ambiance

It’s cute, comfortable, and clean. Kinda looks like a fancy canteen I suppose. I like the yellow chairs.

AMBIANCE: 4/5

The Service

Order at the counter and they’ll either serve you immediately or bring your food to your table. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Chicken seems to be fried fresh because it was super hot when it reached us.

SERVICE: 4/5

Final Thoughts

It’s ok only. I was excited when it opened. But after trying it, we were all just kinda like… hmmm ok. It’s not bad but it’s not great either. If it was more affordable we might eat there more often. But the taste is really distinct. That coating and sticky sauce. It’s not an everyday food for me I suppose.
