Last month we had a crazy random interview with two cast member from this webisode…
We Watched ‘Phantom Of The Opera’ At Istana Budaya But The Chandelier Rosak
I love the theatre. Back when I lived overseas, my mum and I used to go on holidays to London just to watch a different show every night. So I was so excited that ‘Phantom of the Opera’ was coming to KL!
The last “musical” I watched was ‘Pinkfong Baby Shark Live Musical’. Yeah. Legit. It was actually quite good. Oh, and ‘A Tale That Must Be Told: Macbeth.’ That was superb! And it was Mr Ninja’s first time going to the theatre. So he was extra excited for Phantom.
And together we were EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA excited because this was our first night out together (WITHOUT CHILDREN) in over 4 years. #parentlife
Mr Ninja bought new shoes because he only has sneakers. I bought new shoes because I only have sneakers. I finally used the handbag I received for my hantaran.
We got dressed up. I wore makeup. I wore a skirt. And a nice top. A top that actually needed to be ironed. Fancy.
When my mum saw me she was like wow you look female.
When my brother saw me he laughed.
When Aisha saw me she said she didn’t like anything. I asked her to take a nice picture of me. This is what she did:
She’s short.
OK. Enough preamble. On to the main event!
‘Phantom of the Opera’ in Istana Budaya
My first time in Istana Budaya. It looks impressive from afar. But up close, it’s kinda falling apart 🙁
People were queuing and we were like whassappening so we queued up too. It was to take a picture at this wall:
I wish I had done my eyebrows. I look so pale and demonic.
Everyone was taking selfies and we never take selfies so we took selfies too
We’re such simple noobs seriously.
I’m so fat here but Mr Ninja says I look pretty
We had to wait a long time before we could go in because there were technical difficulties with the chandelier
Finally we got in were seated in the second row from the stage
“The Phaaaaantom of the Opera is heeeeere… inside your miiiiind”
The show was phenomenal despite the chandelier not working
The chandelier didn’t rise or swing or drop. It was just kinda stuck at the top all the time. But it was fine. The actors did an amazing job of telling the story without having that grand prop do all those tricks.
Obviously I didn’t take any pictures. But it was fantastic. The cast was SO GOOD. Meghan Picerno played Christine and I teared up when she sang, she was so amazing. So much emotion every time she sang. Her voice. Ugh.
I don’t know what to say.
I think it was like :O the entire time from start to finish.
Best date night (and only date night probably) ever
Sorry for the boring post. I can’t really put into words how special this night was. Not just because it was the first time we’d been out of the house without kids in YEARS, but because… Phantom.
