What It’s Like To Do The Drive-Thru COVID-19 Swab Test At KPJ Damansara Specialist
I was in close proximity with a person who later tested positive for COVID-19, so I decided to pull my kids out of school and take the COVID swab test just to be sure I’m in the clear.
Come watch my video of the swab test process:
I Googled places that offered COVID tests near me, and checked out KPJ Damansara Specialist, as well as Columbia Asia Hospital.
When I called Columbia Asia Hospital, I got a pre-recorded message that basically said to WhatsApp this number for an appointment to anything: +60 12-668 8029
When I called KPJ Damansara Specialist, the receptionist said to WhatsApp this number: +60 11-1283 9081

They sent back this message:

Getting the COVID-19 swab
Mr Ninja and I arrived at the hospital around 8.40am. The A&E gate was closed and locked. The guard told us to wait. So we did.
Once it opened, the guards directed us to drive in and queue up in our cars.
Then nurses came to help people register. But since I had already registered and paid the day before, they just took my IC and got my form ready.
We got to be first yay.
Went to the testing station where two medical personnel attended to me. They took the form the nurse had given me. Then swabbed the back of my throat, followed by up my nose.
What did it feel like?
Freakin’ awful, man. Super uncomfortable. Especially the throat. She reached all the way to the back, then twisted the swab like round and round. I coughed and gagged. Super gross.
The nose swab was really unpleasant too. Stuck that swab all the way up my nose. The wriggled it around. I didn’t feel like sneezing, nor did my eyes water like other people. But it was still. Not. A. Nice. Feeling.
Everything was done within 10 minutes. They said they will call me with the test results within 24 hours, most likely the next morning.
Got home. The end.
Hi. Just discovered your blog. Masyallah. So inspiring. Young and smart, juggling family and work. I know it’s not easy. Your background story? Been there! Alhamdulillah, all things end well. Ayub is so sweet! Saw the video of him practising lines. And your writing is short short. Senang baca. Now im thinking of starting a blog, although Im 53. Hahaha. Btw — need to ask you this because it has always been the reason why Ive been holding myself back from writing a blog. I notice you post pictures of your kids. How did you approach this in an open online environment, and ensure safety? Would appreciate some tips and thoughts. My husband suggested a blog without our pictures. But that’s like, so boring kan. Gtg! Have a great weekend and keep up the wonderful writings! Loving the energy. Your Meet the Ninja piece made me smile and sebak. Great stuff! π Ramadhan kareem
Hello! Thank you for your kind words. If you want to start your own blog, you can always use stock images, or post images of your kids from the back, or use an emoji to cover their faces π Personally, I’ve always treated my blog as a diary to look back on with my kids. So often, I write about our mundane everyday things that really nobody would be interested in haha. But for us, it’s nice to look back on and my children will always laugh at their old photos. Ramadan Kareem to you and your loved ones!
