I have no idea if that's what it's called. But I love it. Brought Ayub…
We Visited The Newly Opened SEA Life Park At Legoland Malaysia And It Was… Okay.
Legoland Malaysia recently had their grand opening of SEA Life Malaysia, an “up-close ocean experience through magical storytelling, interactive displays, and hands-on encounters.”
It’s basically a smaller, less impressive version of Aquaria KLCC. It wasn’t bad. But it wasn’t particularly good. It was… okay.

All I’m saying is I was happy that I only paid a two-park pass to get a ticket to SEA Life included for free
Normal price is RM95 for adults and RM74 for kids. Omg. Totally not worth it guys. Aquaria KLCC ticket prices are around RM35 for adults when you buy via Klook. And Aquaria is like 5 times larger than SEA Life?
Here’s what SEA Life offers, according to their website:
- Feel the textures of our coastal friends in Rockpools (two tiny tanks of sea stars and some burnt sausage sea cucumbers)
- Say βHiβ to seahorse friends (k, we said “hi”)
- Watch the breath-taking Stingray dance (hmmm…)
- Drop by at Amazing creations where magic happens (this is quite cute yes)
- Be dazzled by our glowing jellies (sounds like the marketing nonsense I have to write at work)
- Explore our 180Β° ocean tunnel and try to spot the famous Black Tip Reef Shark (the most disappointing thing ever)
- Head over to the Malaysian Rainforest, showcasing Malaysia as one of earthβs 12 mega diversity countries. (wat was dis.)
Proper review time of SEA Life Malaysia at Legoland
1. There are lots of cute little fish and bright colours
The entrance is cute. We were excited to see Lego figures and pose for pictures.
2. All the displays are beautiful
3. There are no ramps to go from the ground floor to the first floor, only stairs and one elevator
This is the decor at the stairwell. We had to use the elevator because we had a stroller. It wasn’t so bad as there weren’t that many people in SEA Life when we were there.
But I imagine that when it gets more popular, and especially during school holidays and peak season, that’s it’s going to be insane waiting for the lift to get to the next floor. The lift is only big enough to fit one family and a stroller. Maybe two strollers if you squeeze.
There are two floors. Ground and first.
4. The SEA Life staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and awesome
This awesome lady was explaining the different types of fish in the aquarium to the kiddies. She was very patient and friendly, taking the time to speak to Ayub one-on-one.
5. There’s no real Lego feeling, but a few giant figures here and there
This pointer is just an excuse for me to add these two adorable pictures of Ibrahim with the Lego figure in the background. But actually, they are very cute and you’ll definitely be posing your kids next to the figures for fun pictures.
You’ll definitely be posing with the figurines. It’s impossible to resist!
6. They keep things interesting by having little nooks hidden away for a different vantage point
Perfect for the little ones to explore and observe the sea life from a different perspective!
7. There are interactive games and cool things dotted around to keep kids engaged
The kids are playing a game as a terrapin, trying to avoid trash in the ocean.
8. Touching sea stars and burnt sausage sea cucumbers (I swear that’s their real name) in the rockpools
Me and Ayub love touching these things. Sulaiman and Mr Ninja are super geli and WOULDN’T EVEN TRY. Here’s Ayub with the tiny shrimp thingies.
Burnt sausage feels furry and soft. I was scared I was going to squish it to death.
Little chocolate chip sea star. I learnt more about sea stars and marine life at S.E.A. Aquarium at Resorts Sentosa in Singapore. Now THAT was an incredible aquarium.
9. Here are the seahorse friends you’re supposed to say “hi” to
They were very cool but it was really just one tank of seahorses. Not really something to shout about? I mean, they were really cool. A really cool display of seahorses.
10. The stingrays dancing is nice
Nothing was bad. It was nice. But it’s just… nice? I dunno. Maybe I expected too much.
11. More beautiful displays. Seriously, the design and displays are gorgeous.
12. Amazing Creations is one of the highlights
We first saw this at Kiddomo Universe in the Starling a few years ago and were BLOWN AWAY. Since then, it’s kinda become a pretty standard thing. Still cool though. I’m not sure what this thing is called.
Basically, you choose your animal and colour it in digitally. Then it becomes a 3D thingy that swims around in this virtual ocean.
It’s always exciting to see your creation come to life. There are quite a number of these tablets in the room but it’s mayhem with so many kiddies (AND ADULTS) trying to get their turn. I foresee a lot of frustration.
13. The sea jellies display was already kinda damaged and it made me very sad
There’s a giant Lego-shaped button at the side of this display. You push the buttons and the lights in the aquarium change colour, which in turn makes the jellies change colour. Kids (AND ADULTS) were bashing their fists against the buttons. Why? I have no idea. You only need to push to change the colour of the light. But they bashed.
Some of the ceiling lights were flickering too. I didn’t really notice but Ayub did. He’s sensitive to lights so it really REALLY bothered him. Poor jellies.
14. I wish they had more staff on hand to stop people from touching (and banging) the glass
There are signs on every display to NOT touch the glass. It should be enough to let people know not to touch the glass. If it’s a young child then surely their parents will let them know not to touch the glass.
It is not enough π
It upset me as well to see kids (AND ADULTS!!!) touching, tapping, and banging the glass. Wtf.
15. Now I was getting excited to see BIG FISH
With the exception of the stingrays, pretty much all the displays up til now had been of small sea creatures. This one was a huge tank with this giant ass blue fish. I love him. But he was the biggest thing I found in that display.
16. More beautiful displays
IS THAT A SHARK IN THE BACKGROUND?!
17. There was this weird shark thing that tipped Ayub over the edge
You get to select a shark then spin it around and learn facts about it, stuff like that. Ayub waited patiently behind this gentleman and little boy for his turn. Ayub started a queue. The gentleman really enjoyed himself. Spinning that shark round and round and round.
Then it was Ayub’s turn. But a little girl cut the queue and started pressing the buttons. Ayub was understandably upset. I said very loudly, “OH NO THE LITTLE GIRL CUT THE QUEUE! THAT’S NOT VERY NICE.” I was standing right next to little girl’s mum. Little girl’s mum ignored me and let her daughter continue pressing pressing the shark buttons.
Poor Ayub. He’s a good kid. We walked away but it definitely spoilt his mood.
18. Random Lego pirate ship in a bottle
19. The tunnel! Yaaas! I was excited! It was not exciting.
I think I’m really just spoilt by Aquaria. I was expecting a conveyor belt experience through this tunnel. There was no conveyor belt. There was hardly any tunnel π
Still, it was very beautiful to see. I could find the shark though. Do they only have one shark?
20. Here’s the final display
You’re led to the photo section then the gift shop
I admit that I was disappointed by the SEA Life. It wasn’t bad. Maybe my expectations were just too high. I expected something on par with Aquaria KLCC or S.E.A. Aquarium in Singapore.
SEA Life was really small. We were in and out in an hour or so? Peak season is gonna be havoc. We had a peaceful time because Aisha was totally zonked out from spending the day at the Water Park.
Good things about SEA Life Malaysia:
- The displays are really beautiful
- The staff are well-trained, awesome, and extremely friendly
- It’s fun and quite interactive
- Fully air conditioned it’s a welcome break from the hot hot sun at Legoland
Not-so-good things about SEA Life Malaysia:
- It’s pretty small and slightly underwhelming
- Not enough amazing staff to keep people under control
- Not that many sea creatures (but this is kinda good because I’d rather see fewer but happy sea creatures, than many but sad sea creatures?)
- Is there only one shark?
- The ticket price is far too expensive IMO
Overall it’s a fun afternoon out with the family, but I’m glad we didn’t have to pay the full entrance price because that would make me feel ripped off and sad
