Ayub first saw kids ride on cars when he was a fat baby, before he could walk…
What It’s Like To Watch ‘Pokemon: Detective Pikachu’ In MBO Kecil With Four Kids
MBO Kecil is THE BEST. As a parent, it’s the most stress-free movie-going experience in the world. If you don’t have kids, I imagine MBO Kecil is the most stressful thing in the world.
Anyway, the boys love Pokemon, Aisha loves Pikachu, and Ibrahim is a teeny weeny baby, so it was a total no-brainer to watch ‘Pokemon: Detective Pikachu’ at MBO Kecil in The Starling.
If you’ve never been to MBO Kecil, I HIGHLY recommend it if you have toddlers or a baby. You don’t have to worry about annoying other cinema-goers. Just let your kid loose and they will eventually find their tribe… of other kids. After which they will form a small nation, likely led by the loudest, most unruly child, with the aim to neither sit down nor watch the movie.
Then you can finally sit back, relax, and enjoy a movie in the cinema.
People without kids don’t understand that parents don’t hear children anymore. Actually, it’s when we don’t hear our kids making noise that we know some shit about to go down.
Big kids like Sulaiman and Ayub don’t need to be in Kecil imo. But they don’t have a choice so hah.
Behold my attempt of taking a picture of the baby with the MBO Kecil logo in the background
Looks so natural and totally not photoshopped.
There are three types of seats in MBO Kecil:
- Standard – Regular cinema seat
- VIP – Soft beanbag-type seat
- KECIL Family Bed – Bed-style seats suitable for a family with two young children
There are a lot of different price points depending on the seat and whether you purchase with a popcorn & drink set:
- Adult Standard – RM17 (a regular seat)
- Adult VIP – RM18 (a beanbag seat)
- Child Standard – RM9
- Child VIP – RM9
- Single Pack Adult – RM29 (a regular seat with single popcorn set)
- Share Pack Adult – RM49 (a regular seat with family popcorn set)
- Single Pack Adult VIP – RM30 (a beanbag seat with single popcorn set)
- Share Pack Adult VIP – RM51 (a beanbag seat with family popcorn set)
- KECIL Family Bed – RM45 (no popcorn)
- KECIL FamBed Pack – RM60 (with popcorn)
I booked two KECIL Family Beds. It was just right. One bed for Ayub and Sulaiman, and another for Mr Ninja, Aisha, Ibrahim, and I. Total was RM90. Pricey but totally worth it for a comfortable, stress-free cinema experience.
Here are the perks of MBO Kecil:
- The KECIL Family Bed is perfect if you have a baby or toddler
- The other seating options are awesome for bigger kids
- The lighting stays dim so you can see what nonsense your child it up to
- The sound is lowered so it neither scares babies nor damages their hearing
But the best part is the playground in the cinema!
Especially for kids with ants in their pants like Aisha. She cannot sit through a whole movie. She can barely sit through a whole YouTube video.
My boys have always been well-behaved in cinemas. They started watching movies when they were around 2 or 3 years old and never created any fuss.
Aisha is fuss.
Little girl watched about half of ‘Pokemon: Detective Pikach’ before loudly declaring that she needed to pee. After her pee break, she was done with the movie and spent the rest of the time in the playground.
She even made a friend with another little girl. Together they ran around the whole cinema. Sliding down the slide side-by-side. Racing up the stairs and collapsing in giggles on the beanbag chairs. Jumping around on the soft floor of the playground and rolling around like crazed animals.
The baby enjoyed lying on the playground floor watching all the kids roll around with him too
There’s also a baby room just opposite the Kecil hall
Complete with baby changing station, sink, sanitiser, hot and cold water dispenser, bench, and a nursing chair behind the curtain.
They honestly thought of everything, including a stroller parking area outside the hall and shoe racks in the hall
All-in-all a fantastic movie experience for families with young children
Successful first cinema experience for Ibrahim
And if you’re super early to the movie, there’s a little playground outside to keep tiny ones entertained before the hall opens
It’s next to a cafe so parents can sit and chill while their small humans run around like the adrenaline-pumped maniacs they are.
Also, Ayub has officially crossed over to big kid territory
“Mama I think… I don’t like playgrounds anymore.”
:((((
“No no. I like them. But I don’t like playing in them. I think… I like sitting down with you… more.”
And here’s a random picture of me and the baby because we actually look really cute here
Thanks Huawei :’)
